For decades, photographer Jeffery Newbury has captured some of music’s most celebrated artists—not onstage, but face-to-face—shooting cover images and photo essays for books, films, albums, and major publications.
Created during Newbury’s career photographing for Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, Creem, Vanity Fair, Elle, Vogue, Esquire, and TV Guide, these portraits capture something beyond the familiar public image: personality, character, and the truth in moments rarely seen.
Now, for the first time, ten of these photographs have been brought together in a collection of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame exclusive limited editions.
The ten photographs also reveal the remarkable range of Newbury’s work: black-and-white and color, studio and location, intimate portraiture and bold visual experimentation.
Different artists. Different settings. Different ideas.
One photographer—and ten very different ways of seeing.
